Cast out by your avaricious stepmother, you embark on a quest driven by vengeance. Your journey introduces you to an enigmatic wandering samurai, an ardent monk, and a brash mercenary clad in the attire of his fallen adversaries. Among them, one recognizes your exceptional swordsmanship and acknowledges the legacy of your father.

Surprised by this revelation, you lament the demise of your fighting school. However, before parting ways, they invite you to join their mission to confront General Benki and liberate the world from impending darkness.

• Toshimune – The Mercenary
  A seasoned mercenary shaped by a childhood of hardship and hunger, Toshimune's desire to explore the world led him to join a notorious band of mercenaries at just 15 years old. Despite his reckless demeanor, he carries lingering regrets about some of his past choices. He shares a deep bond with Michimasa, his childhood friend who serves as a Warrior Monk.
• Michimasa – The Monk
  Serving as the bodyguard to the Crown Prince, Michimasa is a Warrior Monk who was abandoned at birth and subsequently raised by warrior cultist priests loyal to the Emperor. Trained for his role as protector of the heir, he also shares a lifelong friendship with Toshimune.
• Nobuyasu – The Ronin
  A distinguished yet enigmatic warrior in search of his late mentor's daughter, Nobuyasu encounters you fortuitously at a shrine. Recognizing the potential of your skills, he believes that together you can defeat General Benki and thwart the ominous Black Hole Sun prophecy.
